A Stage.

This is a floating stage on Lake Constance in Bregenz, Austria. The Bregenz Festival is using this stage for shows and became famous with this stage. Verdi’s opera, “A Masked Ball” in 1999, featured a giant book being read by a skeleton.

It is a slopped stage so I’m not sure if it is comfortable to perform on this stage and even it is a really big stage almost the half of it is cut with the hand of the skeleton so there remains a little space to perform.

On the other hand as an audience watching a show performed on that stage must be very interesting and amazing because it is a magnificent stage and there is a gothic ambience that may attract the audience.

Creative Ads

This advertisment technique is created by Sandeep Fernandes and Husen Baba Khan for the male deodorant firm Axe. It says shows the Axe’s effect and basically says that no girl can say no to Axe.

It is an advertisement for a job recruiting company in Germany. Their motto is “Life is too short for the wrong job!”. I think it is a very inspiring ad for people who is not happy with his/her job.

This is a coffee ad for the brand called Folgers, placed in New York City. It is placed on manhole covers and also allows the steam to go up so it can give a real coffee effect. It can arouse interest of people passing by it. Good idea.

Colored-Pencil Sculptures

These are some of colored-pencil sculptures of Jennifer Maestre.

You can check out her personal website for more info:

http://www.jennifermaestre.com/

Jennifer Maestre started to do this kind of dangerous looking, mostly sea creatures sculptures when she was  in art school. At first she was makind them with nails but in her words “But I couldn’t get a lot of variations of form, or the kind of shapes I wanted” and then she started to use colored-pencils which could help her to get so many different shapes, and also it is cheaper. Designs are edgy and sharp, I find them very interesting and clever.

Intelligent stair designs

I found these two interesting and intelligent stair designs.

The first one is a design by Jordi Vayreda. It is a very simple stair design but it also looks really dangerous, for this reason designer put a thick steel stick in it to make it stronger and it is assembled to wall with this stick. I like it because it gives me the feeling that stairs are going to infinity.

The second one is a design by Levitate architects of London. This is my favourite between two of them because it is a really clever design and it is very useful. People use some mobile stairs to reach the top shelves of libraries and this design totally solve that problem. I think this design can also be applied to wardrobes because they have the same problem, it is very difficult to reach and choose clothes from high shelves of wardrobes.

Print Advertisements

Here are some intelligent printing ads.

Shampoo ad:

Ad of German Sport Federation:

Pain reliever ad:

I shared these ads because I found them very catchy and funny. These ads are printing ads, so we can see them everywhere except TV. If an ad is not in TV, then it must be eye-catching and pull the viewer’s attention immediately and give the message of the product in a second. If the ad is humorous it is a plus of course, because if it can give the important information with a supporting joke than the ad will become more interesting. These ads have all the features that I explained. I liked them very much because they all have sense of humor, they are simple and clever.

Mila’s daydreams

I found these amazing photos of Adele Enersen.

You can find her other jobs from the link below:

http://milasdaydreams.blogspot.com/

These are her newborn daughter Mila’s photos. Her purpose to open this blog is basically show her daughter to her friends and family members who are living in long distance. But then her blog became very popular and lots of people started to share those photos.

She actually created an another world for her daughter. I liked that she used very easy everyday materials while designing, such as pillows, toys, curtains, brushes, carpets, clothes etc. They are very humorous. I think Mila will have the most original baby photo album ever 🙂

Designers Spin Spidey-Worthy Webs From Packing Tape

I would like you to see these gigantic cacoons from packing tapes made by Viennese/Croatian design collective For Use/Numen made .

For Use is a team which makes these sculptural spider webs ONLY from packing tapes, and they say that “The installation is based on an idea for a dance performance in which the form evolves from the movement of the dancers between the pillars”.

Cacoons are so strong that the visitors actually enter and look at them from inside. This will not be their last piece, the team will do an installation in Frankfurt in a public space and also in a luxorious hotel

Barrio Latino

This is a restaurant in France called Barrio Latino.

It is a luxorious restaurant with four floors which is decorated with very bright and warm colors. It looks like a palace and also it looks like a photograph from a fairytale. It gives the feeling that you are eating in somewhere from “Alice in Wonderland”. When I look at this picture it makes me feel like when I go up from those stairs I will end up in a totally different world, and this goes the same in every floor, actually the restaurant’s concept is that every floor has a different bar and a restaurant.

What is visual identity?

Visual identity is basically how an entiy looks visualy. It consists logotype, broshures, letterheads, envelopes and some other visual elements. Among those visual elements, logotype is the most important one, it is a symbol or letters or the full name of the entity, that fully belongs to that entity. It has to be different, when people see that logo it must suddenly make people think about that entity. It has to be suitable for that entity because it is important for the reputation of the entity. Creating a visual identity is a process which needs design and presentation. This process is very important because at the end of the day it is the representation of the entity.

A book cover

I wanted to share this book cover.

The author is Lydia Millet and the book is called How The Dead Dream.

Actually i didn’t read the book but i really liked the cover of it and i wanted to share it.

The reason i liked this cover is it looks three dimentional and original. I guess the theme of this novel is the death of a dream, so the left corner with the animals start with a bright light and then it goes darker and darker, and finally it unites with the black background. It gives the opposite ideas like dream/life and death using warm colors for animals and putting black for the background.

One of the reasons i liked this cover is its overall design looks perfectly balaced. There is a weight at the bottom with the animals espescially on the left hand side but the designer put the title of the book with upper case characters and then tiny 4 lines of quotation. So the animals and writings balance eachother.

It also looks very original because it is not like “a visual and a title” type of cover. It looks like a photograph of toys leaning to a wall, and also the quality of the photograph is really high though.
